23:27 According to David’s final instructions, the Levites twenty years old and up were counted. ¹ 

1 Tawarikh 25:5

25:5 All these were the sons of Heman, the king’s prophet. God had promised him these sons in order to make him prestigious. ²  God gave Heman fourteen sons and three daughters.

[23:27]  ¹ tn Heb “for by the final words of David, they were the number of the sons of Levi, from a son of twenty years and upward.”

[25:5]  ² tn Heb “by the words of God to exalt a horn.” An animal’s horn is sometimes used metaphorically as a symbol of strength and honor. See BDB 901-2 s.v. קֶרֶנ.
